Activity: In groups of three-four, you will be given a form of media to analyze. It could be an advertisement, article, sound bite, etc. You will be asked to examine elements of biased writing, design, speaking as you examine the piece with your group members. Questions will be answered on graph paper. You will change groups after 10 minutes. Share your thoughts with members of your group and then answer the following questions:
Who are the sources?
Is there a lack of diversity?
From whose point of view is the news reported?
Are there double standards?
Do stereotypes skew coverage?
What are the unchallenged assumptions?
Is the language loaded?
Is there a lack of context?
